Kansas City restaurants are amazing, especially the home grown varieties! I want to share with you the places that feed our stomachs and our souls. I’m not interested in restaurant chains--not even our locally headquartered Applebee’s. If you want that type of information you can look up their websites and get the predigested corporate information. The Kansas City restaurants I'm going to show you are owned by people living in our community.

, barbeque, bbq, spell it how ever you want, just don’t miss out on it. This is the one food genre that brings taste buds from all walks of life together. Kansas City has a barbeque restaurant or “joint” for everyone from the society folks of Mission Hills to the blue collar folks of Raytown, from the boardroom to the mail room. Everyone has their favorite, and we’ll take a look at some of the best right here.

Kansas City steaks. What’s better than a hot, juicy steak seared to perfection laying on a plate “garnished” with a loaded baked potato and side salad? Everyone knows that we steak lovers just allow the potato and salad to “garnish” our plates to keep from looking like wild animals, and just in case our cardiologist happens by our table. Hey wait a second, what’s a cardiologist doing in a place like this--oh yeah, EVERYONE in KC eats steak.

Beyond steak, we have some amazing opportunities for fine dining. Among them, we have at least two restaurants headed by James Beard Award winners. Our other choices run the gamut from Argentinean, Italian, Asian, seafood, Greek, Spanish, to so much more. I’ll hit the highlights of the highlife, maybe I'll even bring back in that debutant and ball gown society.

The array of restaurants here offering mid-priced menus is overwhelming. I’m willing to sacrifice myself for your sake. I’ll take the hits to the mid-section to bring you the best of what Kansas City locals are eating everyday. A few of these little places have even been mentioned on Food Network.
